A ‘No Choice’ federal eelction

So the polls are buzzing with latest results, we are set for a cliffhanger election. Labor has 37% primary vote, Liberal 43%, after preferences they are 50-50!  Whammoo, exciting stuff? Well sadly not. Let’s have a look at what both sides are offering and marvel at the ‘choice’ provided to ‘working families’ and other catch phrase interest groups.

Abbott’s Jonny Liberals Policies:

> Stop people who look different coming to Australia on boats

> Stop tax on wealthy foreign owned mining companies

> Increase tax on other wealthy people who donate less to Liberal party

> Focus 100% of focus on ‘botched’ insulation batts & schools program

> Big bag full of middle class welfare

> Pretend to care about housing afford-ability but do nothing

Kevin the accountant Rudd’s Labor Policies:

> Stop people who look different coming to Australia on boats

> Place long overdue tax on foreign owned mining companies

> Say working families and health as much as possible

> Big bag full of middle class welfare

> Pretend to care about housing afford-ability but do nothing

So that’s pretty much what you as a voter are being offered. Pretty fucking woeful hey. In the senate you have the choice of Greens and some party that says families a lot but seems like a bogan Christian cult operating from Pakenham hell bent on reintroducing creationism into the school curriculum. The may produce Australian Idol winners and put on a nice facade, but you’d be a right idiot to let them near your children. So while you watch the media blitz/bore in the lead up to election 2010, watch how many times you hear the words “deficit, working families & debt” and wonder why you never hear the words “Infrastructure, future & care”
